Revolver is rated by many to be the Beatles finest album. John Lennon & Paul McCartney plus the emerging songwriting talents of George Harrison who for the first time was allowed three songs on an album (they were so kind!) were coming up with brilliant, diverse songs which again was always the Beatles strength.
McCartney excels with the classic 'Eleanor Rigby', perhaps his greatest love song 'Here, There & Everywhere', the often covered 'For No One' & the single that never was, 'Got To Get You Into My Life'. John wasn't far behind 'I'm Only Sleeping' She Said She Said, Dr Robert gave the impression John was being influenced by his increased drug taking but it was the haunting 'Tomorrow Never Knows' that provided John with his greatest moment on Revolver with its psychedelic lyrics, backward tapes, tape loops & hypnotic drum beat, still influencing musicans to this day.
Single
Yellow Submarine/Eleanor Rigby
The Number One Single That Never Was
Got To Get You Into My Life
The Fab Four
Taxman - George Harrison's best song to date & a swipe at the taxman to boot!
And Your Bird Can Sing - Guitar laden Lennon song, check out the giggling version on the Anthology.
Got To Get You Into My Life - Classic McCartney, a hit for Cliff Bennett & the Rebel Rousers
Tomorrow Never Knows - So far ahead of its time it was untrue!
Not A Second Tme?
Love You Too - After the introduction of the sitar on Norwegian Wood it was logical that George would attempt to write a song using the sitar. He was to do much better on Sgt Pepper!
