The Quarrymen were inducted into the Merseybeat Hall of Fame on Sunday at Fort Perch Rock, New Brighton on the Wirral.
The Merseybeat Story is held the 3rd Sunday of every month and special guest this month was Colin Hanton fresh from The Quarrymen's three week tour of the U.S.A.
Original Remo Four drummer Harry Prytherch & Jaywalker Dave Williams both also members of Liverpool's first supergroup Group One suprised Colin after he was interviewed by Dave 'the rave' Ravenscroft and presented him with a framed certificate to show that the Quarrymen had been inducted into the Merseybeat Hall of Fame.
Previous recipients include Merseybeat promoter Sam Leach, Faron of Faron's Flamingos plus posthumous awards for Rory Storm & Bob Wooler.
Quarrymen drummer Colin was immensely proud to receive the award on behalf of the band.
Other Merseybeaters in attendance were Nicky Crouch of the Mojo's. Cliff Roberts of Cliff Roberts & the Rockers while Freda Kelly original secretary of the Beatles Fan Club also attended.
Original Undertaker Geoff Nugent played a great set to close the event.
